Leading high-PERFORMING TEAMS program
ENABLING LEADERS TO BUILD ALIGNED, ACCOUNTABLE, AND HIGH-PERFORMING TEAMS
Program overview
The Leading High-Performing Teams Program is designed to strengthen the capability of leaders to build, develop, and sustain high-performing teams in complex and fast-moving environments. The program focuses on what it takes to create teams that are aligned, accountable, and consistently delivering strong results.
The program explores the core elements of high performance, including vulnerability-based trust, healthy conflict, commitment, accountability, and collective results. Participants develop a clear understanding of how these elements interact to shape team effectiveness, culture, and performance outcomes.
BUILDING TEAMS THAT DELIVER RESULTS THROUGH TRUST, ALIGNMENT, AND ACCOUNTABILITY
Through practical tools and leadership frameworks, participants strengthen their ability to build team alignment and clarity of purpose. This includes agenda setting, defining team vision, and using culture mapping to understand and influence team dynamics and performance.
The learning experience is highly practical and directly connected to real team challenges. Leaders are supported to apply concepts in real time, strengthening their confidence to intervene, align, and lead teams more effectively in everyday work contexts.
PROGRAM delivery
The Leading High-Performing Teams Program is delivered using the Australian Leadership Academy’s blended, experiential learning approach, combining self-paced prework, high-impact facilitated workshops, applied application, and reflective learning. This structured approach ensures participants arrive prepared, maximise in-session learning, and actively apply leadership capability within their own organisational context throughout the learning journey. Each stage is intentionally designed to progressively build capability while reinforcing practical workplace application and sustained leadership impact.

Program structure
Note: The program structure above is a draft delivery option. The Australian Leadership Academy can design a bespoke
Leading High-Performing Teams Program tailored to meet the specific needs of your organisation.
-
Participants begin their program with a curated set of prework activities designed to introduce the foundations of high-performing teams and encourage early reflection on current team dynamics. This includes short readings, video content, and guided questions that prompt thinking about trust, accountability, communication, and team effectiveness. The prework ensures all participants commence with a shared baseline understanding.
-
The program formally commences with a live, facilitator-led virtual session. This interactive introduction sets expectations, establishes the learning environment, and connects participants to the broader purpose of building and sustaining high-performing teams. Participants are introduced to key frameworks and begin exploring the foundations of trust, alignment, and collective performance.
-
Prior to the in-person workshop participants complete targeted prework to deepen their understanding of high-performing team principles. This includes reflection exercises and preparation of real workplace team challenges they will bring into the session. The focus is on readiness to explore trust, conflict, accountability, and team alignment in a practical and applied environment.
-
A highly interactive, face-to-face learning experience focused on understanding the foundations of high-performing teams. Participants explore vulnerability-based trust, healthy conflict, commitment, accountability, and collective results as the core drivers of team performance. Through facilitated discussion, practical activities, peer learning, and team-based exercises, participants strengthen their capability to build trust, encourage constructive dialogue, and create greater clarity around team purpose and expectations. Leaders are introduced to practical tools including team visioning, culture mapping, and agenda setting to support stronger team alignment, collaboration, and performance.
-
Participants complete reflective and application-focused activities linked to the implementation of Workshop 1 learning within their workplace context. Participants reflect on team conversations, leadership behaviours, and practical challenges encountered while applying new approaches within their teams.
-
The program builds on foundational learning and focuses on embedding the leadership behaviours and practices required to sustain high-performing teams over time. Participants strengthen capability in leading with accountability, facilitating alignment, managing team tension constructively, and maintaining focus on collective outcomes. Through practical frameworks, facilitated discussion, team-based application activities, and reflective learning, leaders develop strategies to strengthen team culture, improve collaboration, and create environments where individuals and teams can consistently perform at a high level.
PROGRAM IMPACT
The Leading High-Performing Teams Program strengthens leadership capability to build more aligned, accountable, and effective teams. Participants develop a deeper understanding of the behaviours and conditions required for sustained high performance.
Leaders become more intentional in how they shape team culture, set expectations, and facilitate team conversations. This leads to stronger alignment, improved collaboration, and clearer accountability across teams.
At an organisational level, the program contributes to improved team performance, stronger culture, and more consistent delivery of results. Teams are better equipped to work collaboratively, adapt to challenges, and maintain focus on shared outcomes.
