Program overview

The Leading with Self-Awareness Program is designed to strengthen the capability of leaders to understand their own leadership style, behaviours, values, and impact on others. The program builds the foundational leadership capability required to lead with greater intention, clarity, and personal accountability.

The program explores the role of self-awareness as the cornerstone of effective leadership. Participants develop a deeper understanding of how their thoughts, behaviours, emotional responses, and communication styles influence team dynamics, relationships, and performance outcomes in the workplace.

PROGRAM delivery

The Leading with Self Awareness Program is delivered using the Australian Leadership Academy’s blended, experiential learning approach, combining self-paced prework, an online program introduction, and a high-impact facilitated workshop. This structure ensures participants arrive prepared, maximise in-session learning, and actively apply leadership capability within their own organisational context. The program is intentionally designed to progressively build capability while reinforcing practical workplace application and sustained leadership impact.

Program structure

  • Participants begin the Self-Awareness Workshop with a curated set of prework activities designed to build foundational self-awareness and encourage early reflection on personal leadership style, behaviours, and impact. This includes short readings, video content, and guided questions that prompt thinking about strengths, communication patterns, and how they show up in team and leadership contexts. The prework ensures all participants commence with a shared baseline understanding of self-awareness as a core leadership capability.

  • The program begins with an interactive online introduction designed to establish a foundational understanding of self-awareness and its role in leadership effectiveness. Participants are introduced to core concepts of leadership identity, behavioural impact, and reflective practice.

  • Participants complete a curated series of prework activities designed to build awareness of their leadership style, behavioural patterns, and current leadership challenges. Prework includes reflective exercises, short readings, and guided self-assessment activities.

  • The workshop is a highly interactive and reflective learning experience focused on strengthening self-awareness and leadership identity. Participants explore values, strengths, behavioural patterns, emotional responses, and the impact of their leadership on others in the workplace. The session is practical, applied, and grounded in real leadership challenges.

  • Leadership workshops can be delivered in flexible formats including half-day, single-day, or two-day sessions depending on depth of learning and organisational requirements.

  • Online program introductions and virtual components are delivered via MS Teams to ensure accessibility, consistency, and engagement across distributed teams.

  • In-person workshops are delivered at the client’s venue, enabling highly contextualised, practical learning directly aligned to the organisation’s workplace environment and leadership challenges.
