AND UNCERTAINTY

Program STRUCTURE

  • The program commences with a confidential executive coaching session with an Australian Leadership Academy ICF-accredited coach. This session provides a dedicated space for individual reflection, enabling participants to explore their leadership context, strengths and development areas. It also establishes clear goals and priorities, ensuring each leader is well-positioned to engage fully in the program and align their personal development with the broader executive team agenda.

  • Prior to Module 1, participants complete a curated set of prework activities designed to introduce Adaptive Leadership concepts and establish early reflection. This includes short readings, video content, and guided questions focused on current leadership challenges and opportunities. The prework ensures participants commence the program with a shared baseline understanding and readiness to engage.

  • Module 1 focuses on Personal Leadership Mastery, establishing the foundation of the program. Participants explore self-awareness, leadership identity, values, and behavioural impact. The session supports leaders to understand how they show up under pressure and the influence they have on others. A key focus is building intentional leadership presence and identifying personal leadership strengths and development areas. This creates a strong foundation for all subsequent learning in the program.

  • Prior to Module 2, participants reflect on the application of Module 1 learnings within their leadership context. Prework includes reflection activities, targeted resources on Adaptive Leadership, and consideration of current organisational challenges requiring adaptive responses.

  • Module 2 deepens capability through Adaptive Leadership in Practice, enabling leaders to better navigate complexity, ambiguity, and change. Participants examine the difference between technical and adaptive challenges and explore practical strategies to lead through uncertainty. The session supports leaders to step beyond problem-solving into deeper systems thinking, enabling more effective responses to complex organisational challenges.

  • Executive coaching 2 focuses on deepening self-awareness and embedding insights from the initial learning phase. Leaders explore real-time leadership challenges, strengthen adaptive responses, and refine their impact through targeted behavioural shifts aligned to their leadership context.

  • Participants complete reflective activities focused on stakeholder relationships, influence, and communication challenges within their organisation. Prework encourages leaders to identify opportunities to strengthen trust, alignment, and engagement across teams and stakeholders.

  • Module 3 focuses on Influential Leadership and Stakeholder Impact, strengthening the ability to build trust, credibility, and alignment across diverse stakeholders. Participants explore influence strategies, relational dynamics, and communication approaches that strengthen leadership impact. The emphasis is on leading beyond authority, developing the capability to influence outcomes across teams, functions, and organisational boundaries.

  • Prior to Module 4, participants reflect on team dynamics, culture, and performance within their current leadership environment. Prework activities support leaders to identify strengths, tensions, and opportunities to improve collaboration and accountability.

  • Module 4 focuses on Building High-Performance Teams, exploring the core conditions required for sustained team effectiveness. Participants examine trust, accountability, psychological safety, and performance alignment. Leaders are supported to identify opportunities to strengthen team culture, improve collaboration, and create clarity of expectations that drive collective results.

  • Builds capability in leading through complexity and influence. This session supports participants to apply adaptive leadership principles to live organisational challenges, strengthen decision-making under pressure, and enhance stakeholder engagement and alignment.

  • Participants engage with coaching resources and reflective questions designed to explore their current leadership approach to developing others. The prework encourages consideration of opportunities to strengthen coaching capability and empower team performance.

  • Module 5 develops capability in Coaching for Leadership Impact, equipping leaders with coaching skills and mindset to develop others effectively. Participants learn how to shift from directing to enabling performance through coaching conversations. The focus is on building capability in others, improving engagement, and strengthening leadership impact through developmental dialogue.

  • Prior to Module 6, participants reflect on challenging leadership conversations and communication dynamics they are currently navigating. Prework activities focus on feedback, accountability, and strategies for leading constructive dialogue.

  • Module 6 focuses on High-Impact Leadership Conversations, strengthening the ability to engage in clear, courageous, and performance-focused dialogue. Participants develop skills in addressing difficult issues, providing feedback, and holding accountability conversations. The session emphasises clarity, behavioural expectations, and communication that drives performance and alignment.

  • Consolidates learning and focuses on sustained leadership impact. Leaders reflect on progress, reinforce accountability practices, and develop a clear action pathway to embed leadership behaviours and drive ongoing organisational outcomes beyond the program.

  • Participants complete reflection activities focused on current organisational change initiatives, leadership challenges, and team responses to transition. Prework supports leaders to consider their role in sustaining engagement, clarity, and momentum through change.

  • Module 7 focuses on Leading Change & Transformation, supporting leaders to navigate resistance, uncertainty, and organisational transition. Participants explore the human dynamics of change and practical strategies for leading people through transformation. The session integrates tools for aligning teams, sustaining momentum, and embedding change in complex environments.

Note: The program structure above is a draft delivery option. The Australian Leadership Academy can design bespoke programs tailored to meet the specific needs of the Executive Leadership Team.

PROGRAM IMPACT

The Senior Manager Leadership Program creates meaningful and measurable impact by strengthening leadership capability at a critical level of organisational influence. Participants emerge with greater clarity in their leadership identity, stronger confidence in decision-making, and enhanced ability to lead people and performance in complex environments.

The program supports the transition from operational leadership to broader strategic influence. Senior managers develop the capability to think systemically, engage stakeholders more effectively, and lead teams through ambiguity and change with greater confidence and consistency.

At an organisational level, the program contributes to improved leadership culture, stronger team performance, and increased alignment across business units.
